In an outlying district of Nyon, a self-managed after-school centre offers children an island of freedom. Founded by an association of women volunteers, this atypical centre has survived 30 years of urban and social change in the district and continues to offer a rare, idealistic and joyfully disorganised space. The film will be screened as a Relaxed session.

Camera and negatives are seen as a medium to preserve memories in a way that the time will stay still forever at the moment the photos are taken. Fisso (2018) portrays a family in which camera plays a significant role. The photos the family members take give out a picture of the scattered family and how their life changes as days pass on, and, most importantly, tells the story of how they mend their relationships.

More than anything, I want to rise into the air with you and share an arena – this could describe the choreography of Latvian dancers Artūrs Nīgalis and Mārīte Supe, where nearly two lifetimes are danced out. In the Riga Circus building, opened in 1888 and now reconstructed, endless longing, tears, emotionally charged equilibristics, truth, and duality revolve. Have our relationships also reached a circus-like amplitude? Estonian director Pulk seems to have found the answer to that.

Bertinker (2022) begins with the real but lost myth of an insect constellation called 'Musca', the only one of its kind in Uranometria, a star map created by German celestial cartographer Johann Bayer. In doing so, the artist presents a real-life subject accompanied by a physical object that may soon disappear, to offer a new perspective on the boundary between fiction and reality. For example, Han’s image collages, deconstructed from the flow of the scenario, are composed of prints and drawings on 16mm film, summoning the physical external conditions that are played through a projector.

withal our bodies we are is a work combining text and the moving image of body movements. In the text, the speaker feels awkward and nervous at a club and meets ’Jiwon‘, visiting different places and sharing communal movements and affect. Based on the senses emerging from the text - nervousness, self-consciousness, relaxedness, awkwardness, and etc. - Sunghyun who performed for this piece choreographed movements with me. In this work, Sunghyun presents texts that are printed in reverse on the mirror and performs movements that are sometimes related, not related, or maybe extended from the text. By putting text and movements together, we think about how our bodies move and what it is about to move together with others.

Choreographer and dancer Hadar Ahuvia interrogates the Zionist mythologies she learned as a child in Israel using Israeli folk dance-inspired contemporary dance as a point of entry. Seeking to understand the meaning behind traditional dance, which can be weaponized to oppress and marginalize, Hana explores the complexities of the Palestinian and Israeli relationship with the guiding belief that everyone wants and deserves peace. This lyrical and thought-provoking film is sure to engender reflection and deep conversation.
