Created by Mary Filippo, "My Mis-Education in 3 Graphics" is a document of her darkly humorous journey through the mind-boggling constructs of mainstream economics. Filmed introductory economics course lectures and interviews with mainstream economists reveal the enormous rift between the economics textbook models and the filmmaker’s and other critics’ understandings of economic reality.

A defiant, weird, DIY lament on not keeping calm in toxic times. A 60-year-old woman (the filmmaker) confronts over consumption and AI-fuelled misogynistic ageism with deadpan slapstick, a sculptural costume and an intricate, animated collage of bar-codes. A frenetic performance of striped, coded beings enmeshed in a system that’s of their own making, yet out of their control. Ambiguities and interference patterns are embraced, as is the contradiction of the toxic and the sublime, the comic and apocalyptic. Originally conceived as a live performance, this is a collaboration with composer Matt Rogers and The Something Puffs.

Around 172,000 people are homeless in California, accounting for 30% of the country’s total despite the state representing only 12% of the US population. The main causes of this social crisis are a lack of affordable housing, mental health problems and drug use. This human distress is prevalent these days, but it is far from trivial. Homeless people are particularly vulnerable to the effects of extreme weather events such as heatwaves and floods, which can be deadly due to their lack of access to shelter, clean water and healthcare. When I was in the town of El Centro, I met some homeless individuals and captured a few moments of their daily lives on the edge of Interstate 8 and the Sonoran Desert.

When Ariel was in elementary school, she often lied in her mother's arms and listened to her recounting memories about Ariel. In 2024, at the age of 26, Ariel invited her mother to share her experiences about her pregnancy, but she declined. So Ariel interviewed her close friend and her mother instead. If Everyone is just an observer of memories, what is the meaning of retelling them once again? Are children and their mother bonded by blood, by relationship, or by an invisible gap within the streams of memories?
