Christian's participation in this trip was only made possible through close cooperation between his probation officer, the public prosecutor, and the educators at the Johannes Petersen Home. It was conceived and implemented as a last attempt to influence his socially disadvantaged circumstances. Christian is only allowed to be picked up from the Hamburg remand prison immediately before departure. After two months, Christian is back in prison, this time in Portugal. For stealing radios and wristwatches. "Scandal! Bizarre therapy for difficult youths. Seven months of dream travel at the taxpayer's expense!" reads the newspaper. Bauer Publishing sends two reporters to southern Portugal. A clash ensues. The decision not to punish "criminal" children is the target of attacks by right-wing politicians and their press. The Youth Welfare Office considers discontinuing the project. But this is no time for self-pity – the group continues its work.

The group travels on to Lisbon to start investigating Christian's whereabouts. At the same time, school starts again. Christian has once again been caught by the police stealing a car. Three days later, he is back with the group. An educational attempt at clarification begins: Why did he run away? Why did he steal? Why the cars?

On November 22, 2015, a second round of the presidential elections was held in Argentina. Society was deeply polarized, and the candidate chosen as Cristina Kirchner's successor was not anyone's favorite, but the right-wing candidate, Mauricio Macri, was only three points behind. The ruling party seemed defeated, and in response to this urgency, a spontaneous civic campaign was organized in the streets, a last-ditch effort to prevent neoliberal policies from taking hold in the country. This is a record of what happened that day in the streets of Buenos Aires.

Poster for Lacrima

2021 · ★ 0.0 (0)

Lacrima is purportedly based on the life of a clairvoyant, quantum physicist, and Surrealist artist called Nina Palladino. Her story is linked to the disappearance in advance of an exhibition of the artist “Angela Su,” the construction of electromagnetic portals between worlds, and a series of unexplained events on the mysterious, mist-shrouded island of the work’s title… Combining clips from filmmakers as varied as Georges Méliès, Hans Richter, Luis Buñuel, and the choreographer Busby Berkeley, Su builds an alternative reality out of unsettling correspondences, secret patterns, psychographic messages, and dream logics. The viewer is invited to take a “leap of faith” into worlds beyond ordinary perception that, for all their strangeness, hold up a mirror to the violence and injustice that shape our own.

The videos No.1, Lover Man, 90 Grad in Berlin, Party and No.5 (1977) were filmed from a monitor in 16mm in 1980 and fused together into a single film: "Marktstr! 1A." Although nothing was altered in the videos—nothing added or omitted—a new work emerged. The medial transformation of individual videos into a coherent 16mm film creates a qualitatively different art object in terms of temporal, material, and perspectival perception. (Uta Brandes 1984)
