When Isabella learned that her great-great-uncle was imprisoned in Stutthof, the first German concentration camp established on Polish soil during the Second World War, she begins an investigation into his story and the camp’s little-known history. Despite its significance, Stutthof remains one of the least documented sites of Nazi persecution, leaving families of its victims with lingering questions. Through witness testimonies and archival traces, the film follows Isabella’s search for Uncle Edmund and the lives of those who endured Stutthof, offering a quiet reflection on memory, loss, and the lasting echoes of trauma that continue to shape the generations that followed.

Ruth's addiction to drugs and alcohol began when she was fourteen years old. They provided her with instant relief from painful memories of childhood physical, mental and sexual abuse, and from her work as a prostitute. After eighteen years of addiction, Ruth knew that in order to survive she'd have to quit. In desperation she contacted Alcoholics Anonymous, and through them and other support groups learned that change was possible. In this first-person account, Ruth describes her struggle to stay off drugs and alcohol and her determination to take responsibility for her own life. This is one of a series of films about women recovering from drug and/or alcohol dependency. The related film Turnaround: A Story of Recovery describes a program Ruth participated in earlier in her recovery at Aurora House in Vancouver.

The main characters of the film are a husband and wife, doctors of a rural hospital on the shores of Lake Onega. Observation of their life and the life of their fellow villagers causes a variety of thoughts about what is happening to the Russian intelligentsia in post-perestroika times, about the indifference of the authorities to “ordinary” people and the problem of preserving the spiritual and historical heritage, about how not to lose a sense of the meaning of life.

Long overlooked yet hugely influential, a towering Jewish American humanitarian finally receives her due in this inspiring biography of the visionary Zionist and women’s rights leader who helped shape modern Jewish life. As founder of Hadassah, builder of a modern healthcare and social service system in pre-state Israel, and fierce advocate for education and Jewish–Arab cooperation, Henrietta Szold was a force of nature who galvanized a global network of Jewish women. Her boldest achievement, Youth Aliyah, rescued thousands of Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Europe. Through archival footage, intimate letters, and firsthand reflections lifted by Tovah Feldshuh’s stirring narration, this rousing tribute honors a trailblazer whose moral clarity, courage, and humanity continue to echo today.
