An intimate dialogue between mother and daughter in which past decisions, present fears, and expectations for the future are confronted. This conversation emerges from a process in which the director engages with her mother's testimony—received from afar on audio tapes—and contrasts it with her own questions through a journey through family archive footage.

Second of the series "Visions of Paradise." Directed by Allie Light and Irving Saraf. 1980. 102 Mature: The Art of Harry Lieberman Harry Lieberman, at age 102, shares with wit and wisdom his art, philosophy, and love of life in this documentary which describes his transformation from retired businessman to artist who, in his old age, is "living on the top of the world." The film shows the connections between Lieberman's art and his life-"memories from 80, 90, 94 years back"-and tells his original stories as background to the paintings. We see him painting, sculpting, and meeting with other senior citizens at the Golden Age Club in Great Neck, New York-where he started painting at the age of 80-and surrounded by young students when working as an "artist in residence" at the Fairfax High School in Los Angeles. This delightful film depicts the connections between Lieberman's life and his art, which celebrates Talmudic lore and Jewish life in long-ago Eastern Europe.

Third in the series "Visions of Paradise." Directed by Allie Light and Irving Saraf. 1982. Grandma Tressa Prisbrey built her first bottle house to hold her 17,000 pencils. This was the beginning of The Bottle Village in Simi Valley, Calif. At 84, Grandma Prisbrey is a vivacious guide to her brilliant houses crammed with objects scavenged from the county dump. At her wittiest-she sings, jokes with her older sister, and combs through the dump. The film is an exploration of Grandma Prisbrey's creativity, pizzazz and sense of the absurd. The film lovingly documents the interiors of 15 of her houses, including Cleopatra's Bedroom, The Round House, as well as the marvelous sidewalk mosaics -- all masterpieces of assemblage art and tapestries of artifacts from the first half of the 20th century.

After receiving awards for her films Horse of Mud and Sad Song of Touha at the Grenoble International Short Film Festival in 1973, the Egyptian documentary filmmaker Ateyyat Al-Abnoudy returns for the following edition to film behind the scenes. Deux festivals à Grenoble documents the organisation of the festival and the relation of its various stakeholders: organisers, filmmakers, publics. Made collaboratively in a workshop, the film is itself a document of attempts to demystify cinema and give it shape as another culture of outside of commercial and institutional frameworks. – EMAF

A short film based on the internet’s influence on identity and how it can shape our society, ideologies, beliefs, interests, style and perception of the world. Showcased in three narrative stages - Oblivion, Recognition and Discovery which follows a protagonist who faces these challenges of accepting their identity without the misconstrued influences of the internet and social media. The film touches on the grip the internet has on society, and the nature of repressing your identity to fit in. Using Mandelbro's song 'What Have You Done To Me' and 'The Optimist Playbook' to push the themes of personal identity and optimism when confronting the world and humanity. Also, using Djo's song 'On and On' to highlight the addictive nature of consumption. Amid negativity and an everlasting changing world, you can be yourself without having to 'fit in' by approaching an optimistic perspective and seeing where life takes you. In a world of fear, confusion, hate and judgement, choose joy.

This film challenges the comforting ideal that we are meant to feel to truly appreciate the human experience. In doing so, it questions what happens when emotion is absent, when the expected highs and lows are replaced with a numbing void. “Aren’t You?” pushes against the belief that our humanity is measured solely by our capacity to feel deeply and visibly. I explore how this disconnect challenges traditional notions of identity, memory, and connection, suggesting that the human experience is more expansive and nuanced than what is typically accepted. In doing so, the film calls for a broader understanding of how people experience reality, reminding us that emotional flatness is not a failure of being human — it is a part of being human.
