Trisha Brown original Roof Piece became an emblem of the 1970s for concentrating the spectator attention on far away rooftops. The 2011 dance in the compressed architectural space of the High Line demand that spectators move to see every dancer. The dance reveals how improvised movement by one dancer, viewed across rooftops, is transformed incrementally by distance and jagged lines of vision. The line of dancers starts South and reverses at half-time.

After waking up from what, apparently, seems like a dream in which she asked to change her name, the protagonist loses not only the memory of it, but also her identity. Unable to reconcile with the entity that deprived her of her essence, the only way to find comfort is by taking refuge in nature, an immutable and transcendent being, in it it's possible to find and know the true essence of the world. The story of losing one's name clashes with the tumoural presence of the self, the ego that wants everything, that has to be there, that needs to remember.

A documentary that reflects on Fabíola Aquino's decision to undergo bariatric surgery and shows her anxieties, expectations, and fears, as well as other stories about her body and obesity, in addition to speeches by specialized professionals. The film also discusses strategies for dealing with the social control of bodies, since prejudice is confused with discourses on health. The proposal has cross-cutting obesity-related themes - representations of the body, fatphobia, psychology, society, prejudice, food, and economic power.

You moved as if shimmering and rippling water and I danced above like a seagull. The film explores visual reminders of objects and surroundings of memory to the void and absence tied to it, offering a path for the mechanism of memory. The imagery is contradicted by found sounds that operate as triggers of the past or as debris in the present. The film notes a new category of space-time.

Poster for One

The first film I ever made consists of the first roll of film I ever shot, entitled One. I made it for the first film class Keith Sanborn taught, in 1978 at the Department of Media Studies at the University of Buffalo, when he was a graduate student working with Hollis Frampton. I was 17. The assignment was to make a film using one roll of Super 8 film, without moving the camera. The result is a kind of poetic/cinematic one-liner. It is in tune with the structuralist spirit of the day - to my surprise.
