With RIPARIA, Emilija Škarnulytė proposes a visual crossing of the Rhône via Lake Geneva. Using scientific techniques of photogrammetry and underwater sensors, she follows the course of the water, beyond the waves, scraping the benthic sea floor, the domain of the riparian and the lacustrine, to read the effects of human intervention. Considering time in its thickness, she explores hydrology and its mythologies, questions in a poetic way what happens in our landscapes and suggests what might happen.

Poster for Ein Mensch, der zu Fuss geht, ist verdächtig

In 1977, Daimler-Benz wanted to start building a test track in the Baden-Württemberg province near Boxberg. The project met with fierce resistance from local farmers right from the start. The directorial trio Heuser/Marcello/Wittenberg accompanied the conflict from 1981-83 and instead of a simple reportage, they provide a picture puzzle of struggles: international and local, historical, present and future. The music of the Chilean communist and singer-songwriter Viktor Jara, who was murdered in 1973, pervades the film. Images from Brazil and the exploitation of the rural population there through neo-colonial expansion are juxtaposed with rallies in Stuttgart and German political talk shows. (Patrick Kokoszynski)

Poster for Inflorescences IV

2023 · ★ 0.0 (0)

Inflorescences unfolds in an hypothetical future, where plants, mushrooms, and unfamiliar critters have undergone mutations to exist in symbiosis with electronic waste. These life forms emerge from what we perceive as inert and forgotten remnants, and continue to evolve and foster new relationships with the ecosystem. Inflorescences portrays a world devoid of humans, yet its evolution is shaped by the remains they left behind. As part of the project, four sculptures are crafted from electronic waste, incorporating screens and lights that evoke the entities depicted in the videos, offering a glimpse into the future of these discarded objects.
