Landforms unearths the physical remains of past and future geological strata. The film explores two landscapes, an industrial rock quarry turned recreational fossil hunting park, in which 380-million-year-old fossils were discovered beneath the rocks where once flowed a shallow sea, and a public waterway whose shore is dispersed with brightly colored fragments of consumer waste in the form of microplastics. Both landscapes reveal a process of digging and gathering, of collecting evidence of earth’s pre-historic past or intervening in humanity’s toxic futures. The forms, of ancient sea creatures and broken plastic, mesh and intertwine into a meditation on deep time and a reflection on extinction.

At the improvised stops of a migrant camp, I film the paltry shelters of nationals from Mexico, Central America, Pakistan and China. Making campfires with a few scattered desert shrubs, caught between worry and despair, they are waiting to be picked up. Through the glimmering haze I can make out their blank gazes staring into the void, their faces burdened with fatigue, sweat and dust. The calming effect produced by the volunteers who distributed water, food and blankets a short time ago is fading fast. By dawn tomorrow, the camp will be gone, the desert deserted, the crossing already in the past. In the light of dusk it is still possible to glimpse places strewn with disparate objects and abandoned clothing, leftovers from barely touched meals and a campfire still burning. A chiaroscuro of shadows and embers. I think of such little consideration and the ruined American dream. On the icy sand I find a cushion bearing an inscription: “DREAM.”

The film is full of mysticism and Ukrainian customs. Traditional celebrations - driving the Goat, giving gifts and divination on New Year's Eve - have always caused us special admiration. Our traditions are beautiful and creepy, imbued with existential experiences... all this is embodied in this film. Starting with the name of the main character, ending with the resolution and the main antagonist of the story. The film envelops you in this traditionally festive atmosphere and throws you into a stupor from the end.

Russian Germans are one of the largest migrant groups with voting rights in Germany, but people outside the community often don't know much about them. Except prejudices: Russian Germans would vote for the AfD and support Putin's war of aggression. But what really moves the community, how do people see themselves and other Russian Germans, what does family mean, what does religion mean - and what is really the level of sympathy for the AfD that the community is said to have?

Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Hanns Eisler and Hans Julius Salter – driven out by the Nazi regime, these composers were able to gain a foothold in Hollywood and became pioneers of film music. The major film studios in the USA still use their epochal soundtracks, which are characterized by symphonic music. A young generation of Austrian musicians is continuing their work.

La gran mentira de la muerte (The big lie of death) is a multichannel sound and film installation conceived as a site-specific work for MACBA’s Capella. It explores poetic themes of Carmen, particularly as her myth is entangled with the performative fields of flamenco and bullfighting. Like the opera composed by Georges Bizet, these fields evoke the spectacle of death and implicate the spectator as a part of it. This work brings the ritual performance of death (real and imagined) into a conversation with cinema, which bears its own murderous traditions.

Ksenia Burdinova: “Leningrad is an experimental project that began in 1998. Back then, we used ‘Mikrat’ film to make a story about found photographs. Until 2024, the material was stored as a film copy with an optical soundtrack. After 25 years, the film was finally edited and reimagined, with young sound director Dasha Solodova re-dubbing the image. She preserved the essence of the old soundtrack while creating a new one with present-day sounds.”

The space between is a place where time stands still. It carefully preserves the memories of the people who once inhabited it: notes, photographs, drawings—everything the fleeing residents, for whatever reason, didn’t take with them to their new home. Mutilated and ailing, it stands at the center of every city, waiting for the moment when a ‘mechanical hand’ will tear it down and turn it into dust. A new house will then be built on the same land, and the cycle will repeat.

On May 5, 2005, the residents of Spokane, Washington, awoke to one of the strangest headlines in the town’s history: “West Tied to Sex Abuse in ’70s, Using Office to Lure Young Men.” The popular, socially conservative Republican mayor of Spokane, Jim West, had been outed by the town’s newspaper, which told the sordid story of a man with two lives: in public, he had once sponsored legislation forbidding gays from teaching in public schools, while in private, the paper alleged, he was trawling for young men online, using the trappings of his office to lure them into sexual relationships. But as bizarre as the revelations were, so too were the newspaper’s methods. FRONTLINE producers Rachel Dretzin and Barak Goodman investigate the complex relationship between politics, sexuality, fear, and judgment in one all-American town.
