A macabre Italian children’s song tells the story of Mario, a soldier who returns from war and must learn that his girlfriend has left him for another man. Mario decides to kill her. The film picks up on the ambivalent mood of the song and reinforces its vibration in the space between blithe children’s game and brutal murder.

“Being a composer means sharing joy and love for the possibility of harmony, at least in music,” says Pēteris Vasks, who celebrates his 70th birthday in 2016. He lives two parallel lives: one with the music that is born in his head, and the other – an everyday life, like any of us. The film crew takes a look at the composer's life from the creation of a piece of music to its premiere. It tells of the inspiration that the composer draws from the wonderful nature of Latvia, his childhood in a pastor's family during the Soviet era, and his inexhaustible joy of life. "The world must remain in balance so that we do not all fall into the abyss. The evil, aggressive and brutal, and that which is created by the power of love, faith and conviction... The less time I have left, the more I have to focus on the main thing – the affirmation of love."

Yet, forty-two years later, what motivates these images takes on a different turn in A Remake of a Revolutionary Film.

Poster for 164 San Antonio Abad

In March, the streets of Mexico City are covered in purple Jacaranda flowers. Obrera— “Worker” in Spanish—is a working class neighbourhood. I follow the trail of purple flowers on the ground, and discover a large bronze monument behind the fence of an apartment building courtyard: a seamstress, working on a sewing machine. At home, I look up the address: Manuel José Othón, corner of San Antonio Abad. I find a photo of the monument and these words: "Topeka, large garment factory, employed hundreds of women." And then: "Bronze statue at site of collapsed factory."

Poster for Casual tribute to Marie Menken

— · ★ 0.0 (0)

On Christmas 2021 I was walking around the city of Terrassa and I saw a fair of attractions. I went over and started testing the focus, blur and movement of the lights at the fair with my new reflex camera. Later I remembered a Menken work called Lights, so it became a casual homage to Menken. INFO: Marie Menken (1909 - 1970) was a North American experimental filmmaker and painter. She understood the camera as an extension of moving painting. She will be one of the first New York filmmakers to use my camera and will train Andy Warhol in her use. The filmmaker Peter Kubelka will write that Menken will make the most of "cell luloid" and "transports the viewer to a món nou... It seems that Marie learned from her cinema and let the Bolex talk.(Càmera). The seves pel·lícules are expeditions, like Colom, to a country that had not been seen before".
