Registration of the sixth comedy special by the Dutch comedian Henry van Loon. When Henry van Loon got his dog Jannie, a global pandemic broke out not long after and he was suddenly stuck indoors with that nervous little guy. His daughter was born in the middle of that pandemic. A tough time, that's for sure. But also a time for reflection. Time to think about what he really wanted. And you know what that was? Away! Putting my own particular talents to use seemed like a good way to go about it, and it was cathartic for me as well. It explored many sides of my musical personality—including the first “songs” I’d written in many years. But it also had some of the most advanced just intonation drone pieces and corresponding rhythmic structures I’d ever done. Also, the root/fifth drones heard throughout much of it was two ebows on the piano—I believe the first time that had been done..

The Super 8mm film “Muñecos” (1972) — shot by the artist, Leopoldo Maler and Carolee Schneemann — combines recordings of a happening by Hirsch that took place in three cities: in Buenos Aires, London, and New York. In each, she is seen handing out 500 tiny baby dolls to bystanders, while candidly suggesting to everyone: “Have a baby!” This work was made in response to a period of strong pro-natalist and anti-contraceptive policies pushed by the Argentinian government.
