'The Seismic Form' is based on a text by Jean Baudrillard, edited down to a few sentences in line with Zwirchmayr's elliptical and suggestive aesthetics, and read out in three different languages with selective subtitles. The French theoretician combines the interest in the phenomena of nature with a cultural narrative and a critique of civilisation.

The performance here is a device for creating counter-narratives, projectile bullets, decolonizing the image of the black woman. They are violent images, they are precarious actions, they are postgraduate research, they are articles in magazines and newspapers, they are contradictory, they are destructible. I will point out sounds and words of invisible people from institutional space, I propose a guerrilla of knowledge, in an attempt to reactivate ancestral memories and knowledge, to produce dissensions in bodies marked by coloniality.

This silent, short film was shot entirely underwater on the seafloor of Cozumel, Mexico, 70 feet beneath the surface. Alone on an ocean “tundra,” a woman arduously moves, exhales, and burrows through the afterlife of sexual violence. The medium of water, with its destructive potential and capacity to heal, holds the fullness of traumatic experience.

The film reviews the pages of the history of medicine in which healing was integrally linked to ritual acts and incantation, paying particular attention to the image of the woman as the practitioner of magical functions. At the start of the wave of witch trials in Europe that lasted from the 16th to the 18th century, women with knowledge of medicine and midwifery were persecuted, while the right to proclaim the truth was given over to the Church, and subse- quently – modern medicine and science, which was mainly controlled by men. Also denigrated as witches were women who didn’t fit into the accepted social order, because, for example they were unmarried or did not have children. Witches were perceived as the embodiments of evil. They were feared and hated, because people believed that years of blight and pestilence, illnesses and still-born children were their handiwork.

The North of Cauca is the region of Colombia most affected by the internal armed conflict since 1940. There is an orchestra of ancestral music composed of young indigenous people of the Nasa ethnic group who, with their instruments, their voice and their poetry, remember Maryi Vanessa Coicue, Sebastian Ul and Ingrid Guejia, three of the hundreds of indigenous children who have died because of this eternal and useless war between leftist guerrillas, armed groups of the extreme right, drug traffickers and the Colombian State.

Super-8 memories emerge and vanish into the imageless texture of scratched celluloid, an object at once very present and channelling long absent moments of ambiguity. A soldier allows a little girl to handle a gun, a machine like the camera that links a calm present with war and death. But who is watching this film? Whose footsteps are pacing? Who is invading and appropriating these memories?
