Documentary examining Germany's economic power and the automobile industry at the heart of it. Across the world, the badges of Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Mercedes inspire immediate awe. Even in Britain, where memories of Second World War run deep, we can't resist the appeal of a German car. By contrast, our own industry is a shadow of its former self.

Last year, Marion (48) wrote a letter to God for New Year. She no longer wanted to be alone. May he send her a man who will protect and love her. A man with the blood of a knight. And then she found Rudi (48). The problem: he was in prison. After six visits and 59 letters from him, they both say: it's love. He is due to be released in a year and a half. Then he wants to move in with her in northern Germany. We follow the couple as they move from prison to freedom: when they visit him behind bars, when he goes out for the first time in open prison, when the problems begin. Does he have an alcohol and gambling problem or not? Will he be released early or will he give up everything? What is it like when love that began behind bars meets reality? What problems and limits will the two of them encounter? A long-term observation over a year and a half. Can love move mountains?

This hyper-intersectional film is an amalgam of sci-fi creature-flick, campy music video, grotesque comedy, agitprop flick against heterocentric research as well as (soft-)pornographic subversive statement. "FUDLIAKS! Tear the sexes apart!" is set in an undefined present, in a mysterious laboratory: the Institute for Gender Normalization. The research subject of this neo-conservative think tank: the scientific underpinnings of conventional heteronormative bodies and biologically binary genders. But a new research series turns all that on its head!

Atlas gives the viewer an overview of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Beginning in 500 BC, a time clock at the bottom of the screen marks off the years – eight to a second – as the boundaries on the animated map change, showing both the growth including the conquests of Alexander the Great, as well as the decrease as the power of the Romans declined. The film concludes with the invasion of the Huns and the sack of Rome in 476 AD. Music by David Spears.

Created with imagery taken from the 19th-Century Japanese woodcuts on display in the Smithsonian Institution’s exhibition “The Japanese Expedition 1852-1866 of Commodore Matthew Perry,” the film records the opening of the country to Western trade from a Japanese perspective. In Charles’ words, the film “shows something of the special and rare situations that existed when these two cultures came together…one very sophisticated, one with a highly developed technology.” The soundtrack juxtaposes the visuals, with music from the album “Banjo Kings,” an early-American fife-and-drum recording from the Smithsonian Institution archives, and traditional Japanese music from tapes provided by the Japanese embassy.
